Camping at the cleanest and for many people the most beautiful lake in Carinthia. The fjord-like embedding in the Gailtal Alps, the untouched white banks in the middle of a unique nature park. This makes our home a playground of nature and your holiday destination.

Lake Weissensee – natures playground

Camping at Lake Weissensee means recreation in the midst of a 76 km² protected landscape area. Unobstructed lakeshore, crystal clear water with drinking water quality, no through traffic and a unique natural landscape give the 11 km long lake a special place in the present time.
The warm water (up to 25 °), the surrounding mountains and climate of the climatic health resort offer ideal basis for relaxation and experience and enjoy nature.
During winter time, the frozen lake – the largest prepared ice rink in Europe – invites you to go ice skating. The 50 km of cross-country trails are awaiting all skill levels of nordic skiers. The winter dream is perfect with the family ski area Naggler Alm with the 4-seater chair lift and the T-bar lifts.Lake Weissensee region was awarded the EU Prize for the Environment and Tourism in 1996 for its many years of endeavors towards sustainable tourism.
In 2004, the region became the 2nd nature park in Carinthia and at its 10th anniversary in 2014 it was announced Austria’s Nature Park of the Year.

Wintercamping – ein besonderes Erlebnis

Im Winter lädt die präparierte Natureisfläche – übrigens die größte Europas – zum Eislaufen ein. Einladend sind auch die 50 km Langlaufloipen für klassische und freie Technik. Abgerundet wird der Wintertraum durch das Familienschigebiet Naggler Alm mit dem 4er-Sessellift und den Schleppliften.

Unser Campingplatz befindet sich in Techendorf, dem Hauptort des Naturparks Weißensee.

Die vielfältigen touristischen Einrichtungen des heilklimatischen Kurortes sind vom Platz aus aufgrund seiner zentralen, aber ruhigen Lage bequem ohne Auto erreichbar.

New sanitary facilities

We built all necessary sanitary facilities new for you. The focus was on the requirements of international camping guides and ecological awareness through the use of the sun and local wood (pellets) for heat generation and sustainable construction.

Die Vorzüge unserer neuen Anlage erstrecken sich über einen eigenen Bereich für Kinder, mietbare Familien- und Einzelwaschkabinen bis hin zu einer eigenen Waschkabine für Menschen mit Behinderung. Wir haben sogar an die kleinen Annehmlichkeiten gedacht, wie Tiefkühltruhen, in denen Sie beispielsweise auch Ihre Kühlakkus aufbewahren können, damit Sie auch im Zelt immer erfrischende Getränke und Lebensmittel zur Hand haben.

Als Teil unseres Engagements für die Umwelt haben wir auch umfangreiche Maßnahmen zur Mülltrennung eingeführt, um wiederverwertbare Rohstoffe wie Papier, Plastik, Glas, Metall und Bio-Müll zu trennen.

Bei uns steht die Kombination aus Nachhaltigkeit und Hygiene an erster Stelle und es freut unser gesamtes Team jedes mal besonders, wenn unsere Gäste von unseren Einrichtungen schwärmen.

Good to know

First things first …

In order to enable all our guests to have a relaxing vacation, check-in is only possible from 11:30 in the high season. We kindly ask you to take this into account when you arrive. If you arrive earlier, we unfortunately cannot guarantee you one of our parking spaces, as we need them for departing guests. However, there is the possibility to use the paid parking lot of the Weißensee cable car (approx. 350 m away). We ask for your understanding. In a nature park the parking possibilities are unfortunately limited. However, you can of course use the sanitary building and lido immediately.

If you arrive after 18:00 o’clock, please contact us in advance so that the check-in can be organized smoothly.

On the day of departure, please vacate your pitch by 11 a.m. at the latest. You are welcome to use the entire infrastructure until your departure at no extra charge. If you still occupy the pitch after 11 a.m., we reserve the right to charge you for a further night.

Self-check-in is generally possible. If you plan to arrive after our office hours, please contact us in advance so we can provide you with the necessary information.
Registration opening hours:

  • High season (midst of June – end of August) until 19:00
  • Off-season until 18:00
  • Winter until 17:00

Our team will be on-site from 08:00 at the earliest and 19:00 at the latest for registration and billing, as well as any other questions.
We ask that you respect our lunchtime quiet hours from 12:00 to 13:30
Depending on the time of year, we may not be available in the office at all times.

The current office hours can be found on the notice board in front of the entrance.

The general areas of our sanitary building are available to all our guests around the clock at no extra cost. All you need to enter is your guest card.

Family cabin:
Our 2 family cabins are equipped with washbasin, shower and WC. Demand is very high and we recommend booking early.

Single cabin:
Each of our 3 single cabins is equipped with a washbasin and shower.

Prices include all taxes, fees, and the current local and overnight tax. These are levied starting in the year of your 18th birthday.
Electricity, water for showers, and use of the beach are included.
When you make your reservation, you will be shown the estimated price for your entire stay. The actual price will be calculated on-site based on the current price list.
We therefore reserve the right to adjust any statutory changes to fees and taxes. The regulations valid on the day of departure always apply.

Each of our pitches can be connected to electricity (16 amp fuse).
If you have air conditioning or an electric vehicle, you are required to report this. Additional electricity charges will apply.

Facilities and sanitary buildings

The common areas of our restroom building are available to all our guests 24/7, at no extra charge. You only need your guest pass to enter. Children under 8 years of age should be accompanied at all times.

Please help keep the facilities clean and, if the weather is inclement, use the provided felt overshoes.

Family Cabin:
Our two family cabins are equipped with a sink, shower, and toilet. Demand is very high, so we recommend booking early.

Single Cabin:
Each of our three single cabins is equipped with a sink and shower.

Directly in front of our campsite – between the sanitary building and the street – you can empty your grey water and fill your water tank with drinking water. €1 coins are required for refilling.

The chemical toilet emptying point is located in the building opposite the entrance to the sanitary building.

Emptying tanks and chemical toilets into the drinking water fountains or on the campsite is prohibited, as these are not connected to the sewer system.

Help us collect valuable recyclable raw materials. We offer you the opportunity to do so.
Instructions with pictograms for proper separation are posted in the premises.

    There is a glass container for clear and colored glass next to the exit to the disposal station. The bottles must be empty; the lids do not need to be removed.

    „Orange“ bin opposite the entrance to the sanitary building.
    No plastic bags – not even „degradable“ organic waste bags – may be placed in the organic waste bin. Please dispose of these separately in the “yellow” bin.

Pets

Your four-legged friend is also welcome at our campsite, but must be kept on a leash at all times. The adjacent beach has a separate area for dogs.
There are also other lake access points nearby where your faithful companion can cool off.

There are stations with dog bags and disposal facilities directly at the exits and on the surrounding paths.

Groceries

Approximately 200 meters away, there is a SPAR supermarket with fresh fruit and vegetables, a bakery, a delicatessen, and many regional products. In July and August, it is also open on Sundays from 8:00 to 13:00. So that you don’t have to use your car for larger purchases, we provide you with our e-cargo bike free of charge for your shopping.

Also located across the bridge, Intersport Alpensport offers two locations with a selection of sports and leisure clothing, as well as equipment for water sports, cycling, and hiking.

Rentals

  • SUP Rental:
    You are welcome to rent SUPs from us. Please register at the pool/camping registration desk.
  • Boat/kayak/SUP rentals
    are available at the water ski pier, about 200 meters towards Naggl.
  • Bicycle Rental:
    In the center of Techendorf (about 200 meters away), there is a sports shop with bicycle, mountain bike, and e-bike rentals. Advance reservations are (unfortunately) required during peak season.
    High-quality mountain bikes are also available at the Vitalhotel Arlbergerhof on the Techendorf/Gatschach border.

  • At Intersport Alpensport at the Weissensee cable car valley station, you’ll find:
    • Toboggans/sledges
    • Snowshoes
    • Alpine skis
  • Cross-country skiing equipment at Intersport Alpensport in the center of Techendorf – next to the Spar supermarket.
  • Ice skates are also available there and at the Seewiesen lift/Tschatschelaria.

During July and August, you can enjoy breakfast or pick up breakfast pastries on the lakeside terrace of the „Strandcafé – organic foods & drinks“. Small snacks are available at lunchtime. Coffee, cake, and drinks are available in the afternoon.

In the immediate vicinity, you will also find a wide selection of restaurants:

  • from small snack bars like Moni’s Eck or Rotisserie T46
  • to pizzerias like Oasee and Bergbahnstüberl
  • to inns like Wirt Moser and Bergbahnstüberl
  • and restaurants like Schuler and the excellent Zimmermann
  • as well as the cocktail bar and Café Jack Rabbit

Throughout the summer and the winter, the trained rangers of the Weißensee Nature Park Association offer exciting tours on land and water.
